Devotion

"Where have you seen God this week?" Friends, we've had an incredible week of Vacation Bible School at Faith this week. We have a record number of children (135 registered) coming to learn about God. We have record numbers of volunteers (80) to serve and bless them. Last night, our theme was forgiveness. "God has the power to forgive!" At one point, a large block of ice was broken to show the impact of sin in our relationship with God. Then, a member of our drama team came into the sanctuary dressed as Jesus. He picked up the broken ice pieces and offered a prayer, which led to the emergence of an unbroken (restored) ice block. The children were mesmerized by the entire presentation. As Jesus moved through the room, a group leader heard one preschooler say, "Wow, I didn't know we'd get to see Jesus." His friend responded, "I don't think that's Jesus." Then, the second child added, "I think it's God." In the midst of our arts and crafts, games and stories, children are seeing Jesus. As our volunteers offer their time and talents, they are encountering the love of God. The good news - this experience is not limited to Vacation Bible School. We don't have to be pastors nor theologians to share Christ's love. As the body of Christ, all of us can be the faithful reflections of Jesus anytime and anywhere - at home, at work, at school, even on vacation. May the love of Christ shine brightly through us this day.

Prayer

Holy God, just as you came to serve (and not to be served,) help us to serve others. We desire to reflect your faithfulness, kindness, and grace. Forgive us for the ways we fell short of your calling on this day. Renew us as we rest this night and start a new day with you tomorrow. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

- Pastor Caleb
