And the Winner Is...
Finally. The wait is over. We can all stop holding our breath.
The 3 people with winning Powerball tickets can reel in their newfound riches. The rest of us can return to reality.
Isn't it amazing how our entire nation got caught up in this "get-rich-quick" fascination? Even when we knew that our odds of winning were microscopic (1 in 292,000,000), we dreamed of what we would do if we won the jackpot. We dreamed how our lives would change. We debated whether or not we'd return to work or ever work again. (Ok - maybe this wasn't much of a debate.)
"I lift up my eyes to the hills - from where will my help come from?" - Psalm 121:1
This is a question people have asked throughout history. Where can we turn to for help? for meaning? for hope? From who/what can we find peace and (in the words of The Rolling Stones) satisfaction?
"My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." - Psalm 121:2
While there is very little chance that our lives will be changed by Powerball, all of us are invited to experience the life transforming power of faith in Christ. While satisfaction will elude 99.9% of folks who pinned their hopes on lucky numbers, God offers freedom and eternal life to all.
"For God so loved THE WORLD..." (John 3:16)
The good news - when we're ready to receive God's love, none of us have to hold our breath and wait...
