It's That Time of the Year
Right next to the declaration, "Cool and Chill Yo," is the phrase "Sunday School is THE BEST!"
These are the words of children - chalked at the entrance of our church. While expressing the sentiments of our youth, they mark the end of the 2016-2017 school year at Faith.
As we transition into our summer schedule, let me express our congregation's gratitude to everyone who helped lead our ministries at Faith over the past year. Thank you to our Sunday School teachers, Youth ministers, Choir singers, and Faith Rising worship leaders. Thank you to Witness to Fitness leaders, Tai Chi masters, Basketball coaches, and Open Gym instructors. Thank you to everyone who led a Small Group, ran a Circle, welcomed a stranger, invited a friend. Thank you to everyone who brought goodies for Sunday morning, chili for a Saturday evening, a meal to a neighbor in need, a dessert for a funeral lunch. Every contributions matter. Every gifts matter. You matter.
With your help, our Sunday School program has grown numerically (in both services) throughout the year. (Have y'all noticed the growth?) Our Athletic Ministries have also grown throughout the year. The choir and praise teams have never looked nor sounded better.
This past week, I had someone offer this compliment, "Your church is a haven for lost sheep." This person has been searching for a church home for several years. She's found a welcoming community in Faith.
As I told our church staff this week, the year may be over, but the summer's just beginning. Let's take a breath and get ready for what's ahead. It's gonna be a lot of FUN!
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the gift of ministry. Thank you for all those who offer their time and talents, gifts and service. May we continue to grow in our love for you and our neighbor. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
