Something Is Moving at Faith
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting." Acts 2:1-2
This past week the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church gathered together in St. Charles for our Annual Conference. On the second day of our conference, Faith UMC was awarded the One Matters award. One church in each district was celebrated by receiving this award for their increase in baptisms and declarations of faith due as a result of intentional focus on discipleship.
Faith received this recognition the day after Pentecost. I was (and still am) struck by how clearly the Holy Spirit is pouring into and through Faith. Sometimes, in the day to day work at Faith, I forget to step back and see the amazing work that the Holy Spirit is doing here.
At times the Holy Spirit rushes in so loudly there is no way you can miss her. Other times, the Holy Spirit works in a slow, consistent manner, doing her work one person and one program at a time. Through the many exciting new programs that have begun, to the care that the people of Faith show to strangers and visitors, the Holy Spirit can be felt moving at Faith. And it is an exciting movement to be a part of!
This week, may we be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit as we hear the call of the sermon series to be blessed. Blessings, Pastor Caitlyn
