Finding Peace

March 9, 2018

What are you worried about today?
What is the fear(s) gripping your heart?
Is it concern about family or children?
Is it concern for health or finances?
Perhaps its the state of the economy
or rumors of a possible trade war.

Perhaps it's the state of our union or the state of our state.

In the midst of all our reasons to worry, the apostle Paul writes:

"Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again:

Rejoice! Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything, by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Philippians 4:4, 6

Paul's advice for us as we live in our highly anxious world - rejoice, pray, find strength and solace in God.

Affirm (daily) that God is the source of our security.
Affirm (hourly) that with God at our side, we have no reason to fear.
Affirm (every moment) that we are L-O-V-E-D by God Almighty, who suffered and died on the cross for our sake.

The result... "and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

Prayer: Lord, you are the source of our peace in our turbulent world.  Help us to seek and follow you.  Help us to affirm your grace that redeems us and sustains us.  We pray for your gift of peace (which transcends all understanding)  to guard our hearts and minds this day and always.  In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
