Complete in Love

"Therefore, just as your heavenly Father is complete in showing love to everyone, so also you must be complete."

Matthew 5:48

The news in the past week has been revealing of how humanity can stray far from who God created us to be. The taking of innocent lives, discrimination, and political deception have been making big headlines. These alongside the headlines about the destruction of fire and the preparation for a hurricane have made me wonder why we are causing one another to suffer when there is so much room for us to share the love God has given us. When God creates us in God’s image, we are given this ability to be complete in love. Even when we have the tendency to mimic the arguments that being made 24/7 on our favorite news channel, we are created to be more. To show love and understanding. To work together to be complete in the love that God has offered us. I am reminded of Pastor Caleb’s sermon illustration, “be quick to listen and slow to speak.” My prayer is that as we go throughout our week, we remember to be quick to listen to our neighbors, slow to speak, and always acting in love.
