"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don't rely on your own intelligence"
- Proverbs 3:22
In preparation for this week's sermon, I have been reading through the book of Proverbs when I came across a proverb that had "REMEMBER THIS" written next to it.
It is funny how strongly a piece of wisdom can strike you, but then how quickly it can fade. As I read the scripture that resonated with me so strongly I wrote in all caps, I was struck again by how powerful these words still are to me. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don't rely on your own intelligence."
At times life moves so quickly it is easy to be swept away in the business. We begin to focus so intently on accomplishing our to do list, or jumping any hurdles in the way that we begin to rely solely on ourselves. We cut God out of our day-to-day affairs, only to find ourselves falling short at every turn.
REMEMBER THIS: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." God isn't separate from our daily lives. God does not wait to be with us in the church on Sunday mornings, expecting that we take care of the rest. God is present and at work wherever you are.
