Suspending In-Person Worship Services

Dear Faith UMC family and friends,

In light of the ongoing efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus, our Church Council has decided to cancel ALL in-person church ministries and activities through the end of March. This corresponds with a request by Bishop Sally Dyck for all churches in the Northern Illinois Conference to suspend in-service worship starting this weekend (March 21-22).

Here are the changes to be aware of...

1 - We will Live-Stream our worship services on 3/22 & 3/29. Please do not come to church for the next 2 weeks. Join us for worship online (Sunday @ 9 AM). You can find us on our Facebook page (@faithumc_op). If you'd like a copy of the sermon manuscript and bulletin, please contact the church office (, 708-444-8560).

2 - We will close the church office from now thru the end of March. However, you can reach our church staff by phone and email. We will regularly check messages during regular office hours (Mon-Thurs 8:30 - 3:30, Fri 8:30-12:30).

3 - Pastors Caleb & Caitlyn will offer pastoral care through emails and calls. We will suspend in-person visits, except in cases of emergencies. Please contact pastors directly by call or text: Pastor Caleb (, 815-212-5165), Pastor Caitlyn (, 815-474-3136).

4 - ALL church programs and ministries are suspended thru the end of March. This includes: Athletic ministries, Children's ministries, Youth ministries, Small Groups, Support Groups, etc.

As you know, the news is constantly changing. Our Church leadership will work with pastors to evaluate the situation and make necessary changes. We will regularly communicate changes with you on our website, email blasts, Facebook/Twitter, eNote, and calling post.

I know there are a lot of uncomfortable & unexpected changes. I know many of you are anxious and concerned about the future. However, let's use this time to consider new opportunities for ministry. While we cannot connect physically, we can connect in different ways. While the shape/form of ministry is changing, our call to share Christ's love has not (and will not) change.

So, I ask you to continue to be in ministry. Share Christ's love. Reach out regularly to family and friends. Check in with your neighbors and co-workers. Let's continue to love and care for each other during this time.

Please follow CDC guidelines regarding social distancing. Let's lift each other up in prayer.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Caleb
