Churching in the Woods

"The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

- Psalm 19:1

We have a gifted congregation. Some of you know that Nancy Duraka, one of our congregation members and choir members, is also a poet. Last week, she sent me her poem,

"Church in the Woods," as a gift to share with all of you.

I am a sojourner, churching in the woods.

Amid the crushed leaves, brambles and broken branches,

I seek the Lord.

In the radiance and wonder of nature's balance,

I am connected, earth to sun, moon to sea.

I am a woods wanderer, walking in the living cathedral

of oak, pine and birch.

Breezes blow in whispered chants amid their

leathered leaves.

I walk by the diamond dewed grass and gather

rainbow flowers.

The peach kissed sunrise anoints me.

I breath in God's good earth and seek peace along

the knowing path of heavenly glory.

Friends, life is not always easy, but God is always good. No matter how great the storm, let's remember that God's faithfulness never ends. As we continue "churching" in our bedrooms and living rooms, let's keep our eyes open to see God's blessings all around us. Let's give thanks and praise for the gifts of love every day. Let's fix our eyes on Jesus and find our strength in the Lord.

God bless you. Stay safe. Be a blessing! Pastor Caleb
