United We Stand

"Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that

we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God." - 1 Timothy 2:2

I woke up this morning praying about a devotion that I planned to share. This devotion was quickly put to the side when I heard news that President & Mrs. Trump (as well as other White House officials) tested positive for coronavirus. Regardless of our differences in political affiliations, let's lift up our President, family, and government officials in prayer. Friends, our country is a nation of immigrants. We have roots in every corner of the globe. We represent cultures that are as diverse as the colors on an artist's palate. We speak languages as numerous as any in our world. And yet, we are one nation under God. Our strength comes from our unity in the midst of diversity. We may not always agree. We may not always get along. However, we share a common conviction that all people are created equal. We hold fast to the belief that all people are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are the pursuit of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. So, let's disagree in our politics. Let's disagree in the tv channels we watch, the music we listen to, the sports teams we root for. However, in the end, let's agree on the fundamentals of our shared American identity. Let's respect and honor each other's humanity. Let's care for each other when we are sick. And let's pray for one another when we are hurting. As the old saying goes, "United we stand, divided we fall." ~ Pastor Caleb
